Palma: Living in the capital city of Mallorca!

In Mallorca, and especially in and around Palma, you will find a wide range of property types and prices. The city offers a range of properties with sea views, as well as historic houses and newly built properties to suit all budgets. Popular residential areas include the old town, Calatrava, Santa Catalina, Portixol and Son Vida. Each area has its own charm and attracts different groups of people. Flats are particularly popular in Palma. As the owner of an apartment in Palma, you benefit from a central location with short distances to the beach and the many cultural facilities in and around Palma. They are also an ideal investment.

Popular locations in Palma: Calatrava district and Santa Catalina

The Calatrava neighbourhood is located to the east of the city’s famous cathedral. Together with the old town, it is one of the most sought-after areas of the city. This part of Palma is characterised by its historic buildings and small mansions, known as palacetes. Some of these mansions are still used as family homes by aristocratic families. However, a large number have been converted and now offer spacious living accommodation.

Not far from the port of Palma is the artists’ quarter of Santa Catalina. This area is characterised by traditional fishermen’s houses. Most of them have shops on the ground floor and apartments upstairs. Many of the apartments and flats are occupied by a young, fashionable crowd. Besides the smaller apartments above the shops, there are also spacious apartments with bay windows that have an artistic touch. Santa Catalina also has a large market and many restaurants and bars.

More restored fishermen’s houses can be found in Portixol, the old fishing port. The neighbourhood of Portixol is a cosy fishing village that offers picturesque fishermen’s houses as well as modern penthouses. The fishermen’s houses are particularly trendy.

The suburbs of Palma

Apart from the above we have Genova, Cala Mayor, La Bonanova and Son Vida. The variety of properties on offer is definitely greater in these areas. Looking for a terraced house, detached house or luxury villa? These are the places to find the right property. Not only is the choice much greater, but property prices are also more upmarket.

The Son Vida area in particular is known as an upmarket area and offers you exclusive properties. These properties offer the luxury, privacy and stunning views you are looking for. If you like to play golf you can find several golf courses here and Son Vida is also an ideal residential area for boat owners as it is only a few minutes away from the glamorous marina of Puerto Portals.

The places of interest in Palma

Palma is not lacking in sights either. From the cathedral to the Plaza Major. Most sights are in the old town, so you can easily walk around.

The landmark and most famous sight in Palma is the Cathedral of La Seu. It is one of the tallest Gothic buildings in Europe. Due to its long construction period, it combines different architectural styles and elements, such as Gothic and Baroque. There is also a fantastic panoramic view of Palma from the roof terrace.

Another very popular sight is the Royal Palace, La Almudaina. Located next to the cathedral, it also offers stunning views of Palma and especially the port. The Mercat de l’Olivar is the largest indoor market in the city. It is also located in the old town of Palma and has been held every day since 1951. Colours and smells will surround you here.

Conclusion

Mallorca’s capital is a very versatile and varied place to live. There is never a dull moment – and you can always find the right property – in the sunny island’s largest city. Especially if you are in the market for a city apartment or a flat, this is the place to be! If you want to combine sea views with an urban vibe, this is the city for you.

The infrastructure is ideal. Both Palma and the airport are within easy reach. Many people stay here all year round because of the good location.

Range of properties on Mallorca’s southwest coast

The southwest of the island offers many beautiful properties that can be used as holiday homes or main residences. There is a wide range of properties on offer. From village houses to penthouses with spectacular views to rural fincas, it’s all here.

If you are looking for a property in the southwest of Mallorca, there are several options to choose from. There are villas with pools, houses with sea views and flats in sought after locations. Mallorca’s south: Fantastic location close to the airport!

Unlike the rest of Mallorca, the south is relatively sparsely populated and there are only a few holiday resorts. Some of the best known resorts are Badia Blava, Cala Pi, Sa Ràpita, Colònia Sant Jordi, Cala LLombards, Santanyí and Cala Santanyí.

As in other parts of Mallorca, the beaches are magnificent and the main attraction. Es Trenc, for example, is a beautiful two-kilometre-long beach of gently sloping white sand with dunes in the background. Other unspoilt coves in nature reserves are also wonderful destinations. In the south you can enjoy many water sports, such as kite surfing and stand-up paddling at Can Pastilla, or jet skiing and paragliding at El Arenal. The possibilities are endless.

The towns are very authentic and dreamy. One of the largest organic farms in the Balearics, Es Fangar, welcomes visitors and offers guided tours and wine tastings.

The Cabrera archipelago is well worth a visit. It is one of the national parks off the south coast and is open to visitors. In summer there are daily boat trips from the port of Colònia de Sant Jordi. There is a small fort and museum on the main island, but you can also swim and snorkel in the blue grotto. If you want to visit the archipelago, make sure you book well in advance, as only 50 people are allowed on the island each day. Another national park in the southeast of Mallorca is Mondragó. This is a park populated by a variety of exotic birds.

There are also many small fishing villages in the south, each with its own charm. The properties offered are a varied mix, ensuring that everyone can find something to suit them.

Mallorca’s southeast: A good location with great potential!

The southeast of Mallorca is renowned for its stunning beaches, picturesque villages and breathtaking scenery. The demand for property in this area has increased in recent years. This is partly due to the improved infrastructure in the area. The recently upgraded road from Llucmajor to Santanyi cuts the journey to the airport in half. Better accessibility makes any location more attractive, both as a place to live and as a holiday destination. In addition, the pandemic has changed buyers’ priorities somewhat. Properties and holiday homes in rural areas have become more popular.

Buying and renting in the South East

The properties in the southeast leave nothing to be desired. There is something for all preferences and interests. The areas around Santanyí or Felanitx offer charming fincas and traditional country houses that are perfect for conversion into comfortable holiday homes.

Those looking for luxury will find it in Cala d’Or, for example. The coastal resort is famous for its crystal clear coves and luxurious villas. The area around Cala Murada also has plenty of beautiful beaches and luxury properties for the discerning buyer or tenant.

Other popular places to buy property on the south-east coast are Porto Colom and Porto Petro. These places are recommended for buyers looking for a holiday apartment or villa close to the harbour. The property on offer in these south-east port towns is varied and ranges from large apartments with sea views to Mediterranean beachfront houses and modern villas with pools.

Mallorca’s East: The picturesque region!

Tourist resorts and attractions meet deserted coves and quiet coastlines in the east of Majorca. This is what makes this region so special. Holidaymakers in the tourist areas can be divided into beach holidaymakers and city holidaymakers. Popular places for beach holidays are Cala Ratjada and Cala Millor. City breaks can be enjoyed in Manacor and Artà.

As well as typical activities such as golf, cycling and walking, there is plenty to discover in the east. There are many exciting cave systems that will fascinate you time and time again. Other places to visit include the Ermita de Betlem, a monastery with a beautiful garden on one of the mountains surrounding Artà. You can easily reach the monastery by following the well-maintained footpaths, and when you reach the top you will be rewarded with magnificent views of the sea. You should also visit Capdepera Castle. This is one of the largest castles on the island. From the top you can see all of Capdepera, especially the old stone houses and the beautiful landscape. Punta de Capdepera is the easternmost point of the island and a peninsula. It has a lighthouse, Far de Capdepera, and a ruined watchtower, Torre Embucada.

Most popular places in eastern Mallorca

Cala Millor is a popular holiday resort and offers a wide range of apartments and houses for those interested in buying a property. Overall, the east is known for its family friendly and beautiful beaches. Some of these are: Cala Marcal, Cala Mondrago, Cala des Moro, Cala Llombard or Cala Agulla. Apart from the beaches, the picturesque coves are also a highlight.

Mallorca’s second largest city is also in the east. It is the city of Manacor. It is best known for its furniture and pearl industries. The Serra de Llevant mountain range runs through the east of the island and is ideal for hikers.

Mallorca’s northeast: Beautiful region with rural flair

The north-east of the island is the place to be if you are looking for a country house or traditional finca surrounded by nature. The region is about an hour from the airport and therefore less affected by mass tourism. Here you will find rural tranquillity, beautiful nature, stunning beaches and picturesque coves.

The northeast of Mallorca has a traditional character. It is ideal for property buyers looking for an idyllic location away from the hustle and bustle of the city. But even if you’re looking for adventure, the northeast coast and surrounding areas offer plenty to keep busy. All in all, the northeast offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the sea and discover Mallorcan culture.

Popular places on the north-east coast of Mallorca

One of the most popular towns in the northeast of Mallorca is Arta. It is famous for its beautiful old town. It is surrounded by a medieval wall. There are a lot of small shops and restaurants in the town as well. Near Arta is the Llevant Nature Park. It is known for its beautiful beaches and breathtaking scenery. The Park also offers many opportunities for walking and biking.

Another highlight in the northeast is the seaside resort of Cala Ratjada. It is famous for its long sandy beaches and crystal-clear bay. The most popular beaches in the area are Cala Agulla and Cala Moltó. Cala Ratjada offers a wide range of activities and attractions for the whole family. Lovers of traditional Mallorcan cuisine can enjoy the varied gastronomy and numerous restaurants. There are also many bars and clubs, which are particularly popular in the summer months.

A slightly smaller town on the north-east coast is Son Serra de Marina. It is particularly popular with families as the water is very shallow, perfect for swimming and splashing around. There are great opportunities for water sports such as kitesurfing and windsurfing.

Mallorca’s North: Idyllic location for your property!

In the north of Mallorca there are many areas close to nature that offer pure relaxation. The Serra de Tramuntana mountain range is one of the main features of this region. The combination of mountains and sea makes the north of the island particularly popular with nature lovers. Traditional and historic towns and villages as well as tourist areas can be found in this part of the island. Some of the most popular and well-known towns are Alcúdia, Pollença, Santa Margalida and Muro.

Do you love nature in the north of Mallorca? Can you imagine living there permanently? Or are you just looking for a property to use as a holiday home? Discover our wide range of flats, haoses and villas and make your dream of owning a beautiful holiday home in Mallorca come true!

In the town and port areas, such as Pollensa or Alcúdia, there are mainly exclusive country estates and apartments. Further out, on the outskirts of the town centres, you will often find more luxurious villas with stunning views over the bays.

Bays and beaches on the north coast

There is plenty of unspoilt countryside and nature reserves, such as l’Albufera near Alcúdia. Buying a property in the north of Mallorca is definitely the way to go if you want to enjoy some quiet moments in the countryside away from the hustle and bustle. One of the highlights of this area is the Cap Formentor peninsula. This is also the northernmost point of Mallorca. The lighthouse is visible from afar and is a popular destination for excursions. Playa de Formentor is one of the longest and most famous sandy beaches in northern Mallorca. Other popular beaches are Ses Casetes and S’Illot on Pollença Bay, Coll de Baix in Alcúdia Bay and Cala Figuera. Cala Figuera is one of the best preserved beaches in the area. Situated in the middle of a mountainous landscape, it is very popular with nature lovers and divers.

Traditional and vibrant Majorca’s Northwest

The northwest of Majorca is characterised by lively holiday resorts and traditional mountain villages, as well as the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range. This was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011. But the area has much more to offer than holiday resorts. There are secluded, crystal-clear coves, such as Sa Calobra. The northwest is best known for its long, winding roads. But those who master them are rewarded with breathtaking views. Art, culture, history and fun await visitors to the region. Take a boat trip to Sa Dragonera National Park, for example, where you can enjoy exciting hikes, an abundance of birdlife and turquoise waters.
